Hokou AI ("hokou", "we", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Data We Collect

• Account information: Email address and password (encrypted) when you create an account.
• Health data: Daily step count and walking distance from Apple Health (read-only). We never read heart rate, weight, medical records, or location data.
• App usage: Creature preferences, daily goals, mood journal entries, and challenge progress.

How We Use Your Data

• To power your AI creature's mood, energy, and evolution based on your steps.
• To sync your progress across sessions via your account.
• To display step history, streaks, and milestone progress.

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely on Supabase (hosted on AWS). Daily step totals are stored — not raw HealthKit samples. All data is associated with your account and protected by row-level security.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising or tracking.

Third-Party Services

• Supabase: Authentication and database hosting.
• Superwall: Subscription management and paywall presentation.
• Apple HealthKit: Read-only access to step count and walking distance.

Your Rights

• You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings.
• You can revoke HealthKit access at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy > Health.
• You can request a copy of your data by contacting us.

Children's Privacy

hokou is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
